Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Bologna with a thesis on sequential pacemakers, specialized in general surgery at the University of Modena with a thesis on Early Gastric Cancer, specialized in Oral Implantology at the University of São Paulo, Faculty of Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, received his PhD in Dentistry with Prof. Jan Lindhe and Prof. Tord Berglundh at the University of Gothenburg with a thesis on the healing of peri-implant marginal defects. He is visiting professor at various universities and researcher at the University of Bern. Scientific Director of ARDEC Academy in Rimini, he organized educational activities inviting more than 160 clinicians and researchers of international level to his clinic in Rimini. He founded the ARDEC School in collaboration with the Department of Periodontology of the University of Gothenburg together with professors Jan Lindhe and Jan Wennström. Subsequently he had a collaboration with prof. Niklaus Lang and he has supported more than 40 colleagues to obtain a PhD degree at the São Paulo State University UNESP, Araçatuba, SP, Brazil, the University of Medical Science, La Habana, Cuba and the Osaka Dental University, Japan.
He has published more than 180 articles in international journals. His clinical interests are implantology and periodontology and in research the fields of interest mainly concern the healing and dimensional variations of soft and hard peri-implant tissues, maxillary sinus elevation and tissue regeneration.
He works as a clinician at the Ariminum Polyclinic in Rimini where he only performs oral surgery.
