Papillae-Tunneling Techniques for periodontal regeneration
Papillae-Tunneling Techniques (PTT), also known as the Non-Incised Papillae Surgical Approach (NIPSA) and the Entire Papillae Preservation Technique (EPPT), allow for maximum preservation of soft tissues in periodontal regenerative treatment when combined with biomaterials.
Two surgical methods, EPPT and NIPSA, have recently been developed to avoid incising of the interdental papillae when treating deep intrabony defects. Our research group assessed the effectiveness of prehydrated collagenated xenogenic bone gel (Gel 40) and a collagenated cortico-cancellous heterologous bone mixture (Gen-Os) in conjunction with PTT for treating isolated periodontal intraosseous defects.
