The introduction and further advancements of GTR and GBR have been important stepstones to develop a minimal invasive technique of immediate implant placement even in periodontally compromised situations.
La introducción y los avances posteriores de la Regeneración Tisular Guiada (RTG) y la Regeneración Ósea Guiada (ROG) han sido peldaños importantes para desarrollar una técnica de colocación de implantes inmediatos mínimamente invasiva incluso en situaciones periodontalmente comprometidas.
The introduction of GTR in the late ’80 and derived GBR techniques shortly thereafter opened absolutely new horizons for re-creating tissues that had been lost by infection or trauma. These techniques underwent different evolutionary steps i. e. from more mechanical approaches including non-resorbable to resorbable barriers and different space-making materials such as autogenous, allogene, xenogene and alloplastic as well as more biologically oriented approaches, including extracellular matrix protein and growth factors.
The evolution of resorbable barriers next to the originally missing cortical structures in combination with particulated xenogeneic bony substitutes enables the possibility of rebuilding the bony housing of immediate implants, even in periodontally severely reduced situations. Especially with additional soft tissue augmentation using connective tissue grafts it is possible to create a favorable soft tissue environment for highly esthetic restorative solutions.

La introducción de la Regeneración Tisular Guiada a finales de la década del 80 y las técnicas de Regeneración Ósea Guiada desarrolladas poco después abrieron nuevos horizontes para recrear tejidos perdidos a causa de infección o trauma. Estas técnicas sufrieron diferentes pasos evolutivos siendo tratados, por ejemplo: con enfoques mecánicos que incluyen desde la utilización de barreras no reabsorbibles a reabsorbibles y de diferentes materiales creadores de espacios como injertos autólogos, aloinjertos, xenoinjertos y materiales aloplásticos; así como también se han desarrollado enfoques biológicos que incluyen la utilización de proteínas de matriz extracelular y factores de crecimiento.
La evolución de las barreras reabsorbibles en combinación con sustitutos óseos particulados de origen xenogénico colocados en zonas con estructuras corticales perdidas permite reconstruir el hueso alveolar para la colocación de implantes inmediatos incluso en situaciones severas periodontalmente comprometidas. Especialmente con el aumento adicional de tejido blando, utilizando injertos de tejido conectivo, es posible crear un entorno favorable para soluciones restauradoras en zonas de alta demanda estética.
